Life & Blogathon

Wow, it’s been about forever and a day since I’ve updated this place.  Things have been crazy busy around here as of late and honestly most of the stuff that’s been going on just isn’t that interesting.  There is a few major changes coming to my life soon, but I will update on those in a few weeks.

Over the last few weeks I’ve seen Ratatouille and Harry Potter (twice!) with various members of my family, had my sister, Rose, over to spend the weekend with me and battled about one hundred and one headaches.  I think it’s time for a new eye exam.

Things are still moving forward for the Blogathon.  I’m really excited and anxious to get things going.  The Peoria chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association has been great in providing me with information and statistics to supplement my updating that weekend.

A little background as to why I’ve chosen the Alzheimer’s Association.  As mentioned earlier I’ll be doing this in memory of my grandpa.  He suffered from Alzheimer’s for about ten years and I remember him vividly as he was before the disease, during the early stages, and during the late stages.  Alzheimer’s is heart breaking for the family members and close friends who have to see their loved one living through it.

I’ve been collecting anecdotes about my grandpa from my father and aunt, from my cousins who grew up in the same household, and from my siblings.  These stories have made me laugh and made me cry – and I hope by sharing them the weekend of July 28-29 that I will be able to help to educate those who are reading my blog a little more into what life is like for the family of a person suffering from this disease.
