I’ve had quite the busy week! I’ve decided to make Friday my weekly review day and let you folks know what I’ve been up to as well as catch up on various miscellaneous thoughts I have but can’t make a full posting about.
- My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti. There are a few ways you can help make a difference. Go here to find ways to help.
- I started my diet and workout program on Sunday. Monday I began to take the Alli pills as a supplement and it’s going amazingly well. Fear is a powerful motivator. You can find my daily journals and thoughts at my documenting blog locatedhere.
- I’ve had a great loot week! Barnes and Noble clearance tables are a thing of temptation and beauty. This week I have picked up On Beauty by Zadie Smith (Hardcover) for $2.99!! and Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger (Hardcover) for $12!! I also have picked up via Amazon The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostovo, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostovo and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
- I’ve settled into a good rhythm with my reading schedule. My goal this year was to use my Kindle for more classic (see: heavier) books since I can download them for free or cheap (0.99). The library for books I’m unsure of, and finally begin purchasing hardcovers of books that are favorites and I want to own for my personal library. The library is shaping up nicely!
- It is my opinion that if a place wishes me to make a payment then they should not put me on hold for 45+ minutes. On the plus side, I’ve folded two loads of laundry, cleaned three rooms and written this blog post so far. But I missed my workout this morning – does my leg twitching count you think?
- There’s a few fun giveaways going on! First, a shameless promotion for my own giveaway which you can find here. Sheila over at BookJourney is giving away a signed copy of Michelle Moran’s Nefertiti which has been chosen as Target’s Book Club Pick of the Month! You can enter here.
- I’m finally digging into my first Henry James novel, The Portrait of a Lady. I’m enjoying finding the story beneath all the layers upon layers of descriptions and backgrounds given. I think my recent readings of Jules Verne helped prepare me for this book more than I ever could have realized.
I hope you have a great weekend and get lots of reading time in! I know I have my hands full.
