It’s Monday, what are you reading?

Sheila over at One Persons Journey Through a World of Books is hosting this meme starting this week and I’m glad to see her carrying on the tradition!  I invite you all to visit here there and check out the great blogs linking their posts.

Last week I read:

  1. Oishinbo, Volume 1 – Japanese Cuisine by Tetsu Kariya
  2. Oishinbo, Volume 2 – Sake by Tetsu Kariya
  3. Oishinbo, Volume 3 – Ramen and Gyoza by Tetsu Kariya
  4. Before I Fall (ARC) by Lauren Oliver
  5. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
  6. Oishinbo, Volume 4 – Fish, Sushi and Sashimi by Tetsu Kariya
  7. Oishinbo, Volume 5 – Vegetables by Tetsu Kariya
  8. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson
  9. Mrs Piggle-Wiggle by Betty MacDonald

Book(s) I’m in the process of reading:

  1. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Books I plan to read this week:

  1. Oishinbo, Volume 6 – The Joy of Rice by Tetsu Kariya
  2. Oishinbo, Volume 7 – Izakaya: Pub Food by Tetsu Kariya
  3. The Commoner by John Burnham Schwartz
  4. Becoming Jane Eyre by Sheila Kohler
  5. True Blue by David Baldacci

Just a note on these Oishinbo manga’s I’ve been reading.  Normally I would hesitate listing manga’s as being anything substantial..but these are of a different sort.  They are hard to read at times, and very educational.  And instead of taking me about an hour to get through – they can take upwards of 6-7 hours of reading.. which is very unusual for me.  They are not light-hearted and sometimes not fun, but always interesting and if you are a manga fan or no.. I’d encourage you to check them out!
