Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane by Suzanne Collins

I really enjoyed getting to know Gregor and Boots in Gregor the Overlander. They make a come back (as is broadly hinted would happen in Gregor the Overlander) and step into the second prophecy in this novel. The Prophecy of Bane.
While in the first book Gregor seems a little too perfect, he calms down and settles into a good rhythm here. There are times I’m very reminded that yes, he is an 11 year old boy. And it was good to see his character develop and mature as he encountered some situations that would scare any normal adult.
Collins does a really incredible job at keeping the pace moving. While these books aren’t great literature by any means, they are fun, fast-paced, full of excitement, adventure, morals and fantastic characters. And rather than stand behind the first book, this second book of the series jumps forward and announced I’m here! loudly and firmly. It has nothing to be ashamed of and I can’t wait to read the third.

I have this paperback on my shelf, I was never really interested. Thanks for the motivation!
Make sure you read Gregor the Overlander first. It’s a fun little series.
