I think this is my favorite of the series so far.

Boots and Gregor are back – and this time they take their mother with them to the Underland. Through the story we meet up with some familiar faces as well as some new faces.

What I love most about Collins’ writing is that she doesn’t pull her punches. If a character needs to die .. or become separated or lost.. she does it. And it hits you hard – as evidenced in this story.

The only thing that’s been bugging me is the fact that Boots is only 2 years old and yet is able to associate letters with things. I can understand a few, but in my time spent around 2 year olds (and it’s considerable), they are not nearly quite as adept as Boots is – but maybe she’s just a very special child. And I will admit, the idea of a 2 year old singing the ABC song with a cockroach while riding on its back was.. pretty damn hilarious.
