When I sat down to read this book I was fooled by the slimness of the book. Tuck Everlasting is a 139 page, short read that packs an incredible punch.
When I read this book I felt like I should have been sitting out on a porch, lemonade in hand. Time slowed down and, despite savoring every page, the book ended too quickly. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting and I know that I would never have imagined this to be the story (and I have never seen the movie.. so everything was a surprise).
It’s funny how with just a few words painting a picture of the home and actions of a person their character is immediately determined. I knew the strange man wasn’t to be trusted right off the bat, just as I knew I would love the Tucks. I knew what sort of boys their sons were and what sort of man Tuck himself was. I felt like I knew their history because they had always just..been that way.
To have all of that packed into so few pages is something of an accomplishment. The story came to life for me instantly. And the ending was perfect, because who in their right mind would ignore advice from a man like Angus Tuck?

You need to watch the movie, it’s super awesome!
I have this one, but I haven’t read it yet. I really want to read it now! Great review.
I knew there a movie with the same title, but I didn’t know that it was a book first, it sounds really good! I love short novels that still manage to create such a rich world, the last book I read lke that was Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Great review, I will try and read it.
I have this book, but haven’t read it yet. I have read good things about it, might just have to move it further up in my pile.
Great review.
Thanks folks! I enjoyed it and would recommend it.
