Now that I’ve finished the series I feel as if I can finally sit down and write a review on it.

These volumes are relatively quick reads – taking only an hour or two at most for me to go through them. Takeru is, man.. he makes me so frustrated but I completely “get” Kayano’s fascination with him. He’s mysterious, brooding, sexy, fun and frankly, could make me weak in the knees if I was around him.

GoodReads gives the following summary to the first Volume of the series:

High school is difficult for most kids. But for Kayano, a shy girl whose single mother seems to work all the time, it’s even worse than usual. She’s so afraid of drawing attention to herself, in fact, that she can’t tell the handsome Kamijo how much she loves him#151;until one day she finally gets up the courage to write him a letter confessing her feelings. But her plans go awry when the letter falls into the hands of the school’s most notorious student, Edogawa Takeru. To Kayano, Takeru seems to be Satan himself. Not only is he devilishly handsome, he is the son of the school’s principal. Even the teachers dare not stand up to him. Kayano, appalled by how badly her first attempt at a social life has gone, thinks she can struggle through, and get her letter back. But, Takeru enjoys watching her suffer. Just when she thinks she’s solved the problem, her mother comes home to announce she’s getting married; to principal Edogawa! Now Kayano will have to live with this devil Takeru 24/7! How will she cope with this literal “living hell?”.

As you can tell, full of drama. High school drama even! There are characters I absolutely love (Haru!) and characters I cannot stand (Takeru’s mother) throughout the series.

But I think my favorite part of the books, and the ones I grew to look forward to more and more often, are the little asides Mitsuba Takanashi puts in. Everything from silly stories about meeting her best friends husband to creepy men buying books on hamsters. Hilarious, funny, “real” stuff.

A really fun manga series – thanks to Danielle for recommending it to me!
