Wow, I’m on a streak when it comes to books that seem to wallow in graphic sexual scenes. Also, now I’m depressed.
I keep seeing this book everywhere. I had absolutely no desire to read it and upon learning it was my book club’s selection for this month thought.. maybe it won’t be so bad?
It started out interesting. The writing is beautiful in parts and, although I could easily see through the plot twists and turns, I remained hopeful that ultimately there would be some kind of redemption. I trudged through the depressing, horrifying betrayals and lies and incredibly descriptive intimate scenes thinking it would all resolve in such a way that I didn’t regret reading the book.
And now that I’ve finished it I’m wondering if it was worth it. I will say this for it though, it is a quick read (mostly owing to the fact that I just skimmed over the numerous sexual parts).
