The Lost Books of The Odyssey: A Novel by Zachary Mason
I did not expect to like this book. First of all, let me just say that I have not read the Odyssey. I was familiar with most of the names in this book from various movies I’ve seen and the Odyssey is on my list of to-read books in the “someday” place. That said, I wasn’t sure what I’d think of this book when I picked it up, but it’s small size went a long way toward reassuring me.
What I didn’t count on was the fact that I didn’t want it to end.
Filled to the brim with short stories of “what if’s”, this book had me constantly saying “just one more story” before I would put the book down. I wasn’t able to take more than 3-4 stories in a row though before I felt the need to really set the book aside and think on it for a while, so that was the second thing that surprised me. What I thought would be done in an afternoon of reading took me almost a week to digest.
Thrilling, beautifully written book. Highly recommended if you have or haven’t read the Odyssey.

I really, really want to read this. I have heard so many good things about it, and since The Odyssey inspired by blog, I feel a huge need to add this to my TBR list!
