So this week was filled with wedding planning (as my sister is getting married on July 1!) and garage sale hosting (by the way, I’m selling a Kindle 2 + leather case, let me know if you are interested!). I still managed to get a good chunk of reading done, as evidenced by the list below!
Books I’ve read this past week (Links to reviews):
- Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt
- The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker
- The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesly
- Imperfect Bliss by Susan Fales-Hill
Gave-up On:
- It by Stephen King – this book just did not hold my attention, even 300+ pages in.
Books reviewed this past week:
- The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
- Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon
- Erebos by Ursula Poznanski
- Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
- Never Tell by Alafair Burke
Books to read this week:

Juliet in August by Dianne Warren

Istanbul Passage by Joseph Kanon

Dark Companion by Marta Acosta

Oh – that wedding is getting close. Everyone must be excited.
Some of your titles sound/look dark… is that a trend for you this week?
Hope it is a great week for you.
All your books for this weeks reading are new to me. Will be awaiting your reviews.
I read It in high school because my boyfriend at the time gave it to me as a gift. I really didn’t enjoy it and it gave me nightmares. I read a few more of Stephen King’s books before deciding they just gave me bad dreams!
I haven’t read any of these, but have heard good things about Dark Companion and plan to pick it up at some point. I hope you enjoy it and good luck with the wedding planning!
Also I loved the Age of miracles, I hope you enjoyed it too!
I’ve requested Advent for review. I think it sounds really promising! Can’t wait to hear what you thought of it. I’ve read The Flight of Gemma Hardy and have to admit that while it received rave reviews all over the place, I was a little disappointed with it as the pacing was kind of slow and it was too different from the original.
I like how Aimee Carter has reworked the Greek myths but I found the second one paling in comparison to the first book. If you get a change, give The Goddess Test a read.
My favorite read last week was Chi’s Sweet Home, Volume 1 by Kanata Konami. Please come see what else I’m reading.
Stephen King’s IT is certainly long but its worth it in the end. However, it isn’t for everybody.
Hope you enjoy all your upcoming reads.
Here’s my Week in Review
I’ve really enjoyed Sarah Zettel’s cozy mysteries, but I’ve yet to try any of her YA books. Dust Girl looks like it would make a good start.
Looks like an interesting mix of books on your list!
Wishing you a great reading week,
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
Instanbul Passage looks appealing. I just finished Alan Furst’s Mission to Paris which was my first foray into the spy thriller genre and I really enjoyed it. Happy Reading!
Rebecca @ The Key to the Gate
I read Stephen King’s It many years ago and disliked it. You have an eclectic, interesting pile of books selected for the coming week. Enjoy!
You always make me so envious at your reading speed. I try but I can’t read that fast. The cover for Dust Girl looks freaking spooky! I love it!
Happy Reading.
I haven’t read any of these, but have The Flight of Gemma Hardy on my tbr list.
Good luck with the rest of the wedding planning – it will be here very shortly!!!
Have a great week!
Kristin @ Always With a Book
Dust Girl sounds interesting and I had’t heard of the series before your post.
Have a great week!
Wonderful reading week! Someone was busy
What are YOU reading @ The Brunette Librarian??
