I recently re-read Jane Eyre (twice in fact) and have been fascinated by this one for a while so I’m glad I gave it a shot so soon after my re-read!

I’m glad to see you enjoyed the book! I don’t really remember much about Jane Eyre, though I’m quite sure I read it years ago. I absolutely loved this one though.

I agree totally. This book was a surprise to me in that I wasn’t sure what to expect. Rochester is not likable at all and my sympathies for Bertha became more developed. Afterwards I read Jane Eyre again and found that I still enjoyed the read, but felt differently about the characters. However not in a bad way. I always recommend this one at the bookstore.

I actually read this book — twice — before I read Jane Eyre, and I loved it. Of course, it probably ruined Rochester for me.

I really enjoyed this interpretation too. I read it after my second read of JE and loved seeing a different side of Rochester (who I was never a big fan of anyway) and hearing “Bertha”‘s voice.
