I remember a green-bound book used to sit on the top of my mother’s closet shelf and I always wanted to read it but she said wait until you’re older. I must’ve been seven or eight… when I got a few years older she let me take the book down and it was Huck Finn. Still one of my favorites.

I don’t recall noticing the silences, but I sure will now when I reread it again.

When I complied my ‘American Classics’ list this one along with Moby Dick was the first to go on that list. But have I read it yet? erm nope but only because my copy has really tiny tiny writing. I might get a kindle version
